Week 12: Progress Reel

First off, I’d like to thank anyone and everyone that has ever stopped by the blog to watch/read about my progress. I’ve had a blast uploading my work and having people comment on it. Absolutely amazing! It’s been one heck of a ride. I can’t believe that twelve weeks have gone by; they seem to have just flown by. But, on the flip side, I’m extremely stoked to be starting class two come the New Year!

So, what happens during the final week of the term? Well, we’re asked to put together a progress reel of all the shots we worked on over the last twelve weeks. It serves as a benchmark and archival tool for AM to ensure that everyone is improving, pushing him or herself, and creating the absolute best animation that they can. It was pretty cool to go back and revisit old shots; I can definitely see some areas that could be reworked (even if they are just tiny, nitpicky things). On the flip side, it’s awesome to see the improvement.

Apart from the reel, we also had our final Q&A. Don Kim has been a wonderful mentor and has imparted quite a bit of wisdom and expertise. I wanted to thank him for the time commitment and for helping out throughout the term. The final Q&A was a "true" question and answer session. Don took any and all questions we had, which was truly fantastic. He spoke about standing out, creating a killer demo reel, and how important reference is in the planning process of animation. Hopefully I’ll be able to keep in contact with him and be able to learn so much more.

So, without further ado, here is my progress reel for the term. Enjoy!

Until next time, happy animating...
