End of an Era

My blog is moving to a new location. You can find it at I will leave this blog up as an archive for people to reference back to.

Slightly Longer, More Detailed, and More Heartfelt version:

I wanted to take a moment and thank the many people that have frequented this blog. Without you guys, this wouldn’t be nearly half of what it is, so thank you. I started this blog just over two years to help document my journey through Animation Mentor. Although there were times where writing was scarce (what happened in 2013? There was a severe lack of posts for some unknown reason), there were other times where I wrote feverishly. My goal for all of this was to help prospective students figure out what it was like going through animation school and hopefully help them out with a few tips and tricks along the way. In short, I wanted to give back to the community.

New Shots and Updates

This is my first attempt at a quadruped walk cycle. I spent roughly 5-6 hours on this test. The Sloan rig is courtesy of Animation Mentor. Overall, I'm fairly happy with how this turned out.

Sketches and Renders

As I was sifting through some of my sketchbooks/folders, I came across these little gems. The render was done using Maya and Mental Ray. The sketches were done using a Strathmore Sketchbook with a 2H pencil. Hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed creating them. There will be more sketches and animation to come, so stay tuned.

New Demo Reel and Website

If you've been to my website recently, you've probably noticed that there's been a countdown clock counting down to my new website. It's finally here. Alongside that, my blog has been updated with a cleaner look and it parallels my newly created website. Now, everything is cohesive and looks like they all belong together.

Graduating from Animation Mentor

After an intense 18 month program, it is with great pleasure that I announce my graduation from Animation Mentor. As you may or may not know, prior to Animation Mentor, I attended and graduated from Purdue University. Although Purdue gave me a well-rounded education, in that I learned all facets of the pipeline, I didn't get to focus specifically on animation. When I had first heard about dedicated animation schools, iAnimate and AnimSchool had only just started. Animation Mentor was one of the only schools that had built up a reputation for producing top quality animators (today, there are several schools producing top-quality animators). So, with that knowledge, I had my heart set on Animation Mentor. I'm definitely glad I took the leap and attended.

Website Update

Just a quick note to say that a new splash page for my website is now online. It brings me one step closer to the official launch of my new demo reel and website, which will be going up on Monday, March 31st at noon EST. Be sure to check back then!

Workflow-Enhancing Scripts

As I wipe away the dust and cobwebs from my blog, I realize I haven't posted here in quite some time. As I'm sure you're aware, I've been attending Animation Mentor for the past year and a half. It's been quite the journey. There have been ups and downs (mostly ups) and the amount of information they readily supply you with is second to none. Due to that fact and that assignments became increasingly more difficult and time consuming, I neglected my blog. Now that the sixth, and final, term is winding down, I figured I would take a moment and post something (hopefully) useful.
